Locum of the Month - Mar 2014

Thursday 20th March 2014

Each month JustPhysio would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Physiotherapy Service!

Name: Emily Rison

Profession: Physiotherapist

Where are you from? West London

Current Locum position?
Band 6: Part-time in a rapid response & rehab team and part-time in a falls & bone health team.

Personal achievements within the role?
Being able to help a patient walk to the end of their garden for the first time was very satisfying as they had been housebound for months following an illness. Most of my patients have goals that would seem very small to a healthy person but are huge achievements for them and I always feel very proud of them when they get there, it definitely provides one with a good perspective on life!

What do you enjoy about being a locum?
The flexibility to move around and get different experiences in different areas. It’s a little closer to being ones own boss!

Most memorable moment within your career?
After seeing a patient at home for several weeks, I later bumped into him in Tescos and he called out “Look Emily- I’m walking now!” That put a smile on my face :o)

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) A ball with a smiley face on it.
2.) A nice soft pillow
3.) A rubber dinghy
