Permanent -F/T or P/T
£26,000-£28,000 pro rata
Start ASAP

The post holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess children and provide an individually designed home based therapy programme, which parents and / or carers can practice at home, thereby contributing to the strategic direction of the Charity, which is controlled by a Board of Trustees.

Our client works as closely as possible with NHS and educational services.

As a member of the therapy team you will be expected to provide an in-depth assessment and treatment of babies, children and teenagers and formulate an individualised therapy programme, jointly with MDT members.

You will be responsible for your own practice and accountable for all aspects of physiotherapy treatment and care delivered to the child and their family.

You will be assessing children from a neurological, developmental, orthopaedic and sensory perspective. You should have broad clinical knowledge, be able to act in an autonomous manner and have enthusiasm to further develop your clinical assessment and treatment skills.

You will be expected to work jointly on a daily basis with either a Speech and Language therapist, an Occupational therapist or a Physiotherapist, dependent on the child's needs.

In addition to this role being very hands on, you will spend a lot of time with parents and will therefore be expected to educate them on your clinical findings and on your clinical recommendations. With the parents' consent the programme specific treatment will be recorded on a DVD as an additional educational resource for the family.

At times you may be involved in exploring sensitive information whilst working with the family and therefore you must be a strong communicator and be empathetic in your approach.

Parents/carers are invited to return to the Centre with their child at intervals of four to six months for a one day reassessment.

You will ensure that appropriate records are maintained to CSP core standards along with a detailed therapy report following every assessment. You will be expected to communicate with local NHS, private and educational providers where appropriate.

You will have the luxury of utilising therapy based equipment such as therapy rolls, wedges and therapy balls. You will have the capacity to loan equipment out to families if it has been utilised within the provided therapy programme.

Our client has been fortunate enough to secure specific funding so that appropriate toys can be purchased for the purpose of therapy at the centre, allowing you to utilise play within your assessments and treatments.

*Post-graduate experience of working with children with a range of physical problems including neuro-developmental and developmental difficulties
*Ability to fully assess a child's difficulties using standardised assessment
*tools, clinical observation and parental interview.
*Experience of working with parents/carers and education staff and training them on exercises and positioning programmes with/for their child

*The ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically in a multidisciplinary team
*Good verbal and written communication skills with a range of different people including children, parents, carers and non-therapy colleagues
*The knowledge to contribute to in-service training and teaching sessions
*Good organisational and time management skills
*The ability to use sound clinical judgement in the best interests of the children and families you are working with
*Good knowledge of IT and computer skills and a willingness to learn how to input on new data bases
*The ability to adapt to different working environments when necessary
