. This nursing home is recruiting a Physiotherapist to be an active member of the therapy team, providing a physiotherapy service to the residents.Our client, a registered charity, is housed in a purpose built home, renowned for our excellent facilities, dedicated staff and high quality of care.
Our client cares for around approximately 200 individuals; their well-trained team of staff and volunteers ensure that each individual receives attention all day, every day. Ranked as fully compliant by independent regulator the Care Quality Commission, our care services include the full spectrum of residential, nursing, dementia and respite/short stay facilities. Residents benefit from an on-site GP surgery, pharmacy and physiotherapy and occupational therapy department as well as an exceptional activities programme.
They have wonderful facilities including a concert hall, shop, hairdressing salon, exceptional activities centre including a cyber café, ceramics section and baking area and peaceful landscaped garden, including a unique dementia garden including reminiscence areas, sensory and water features.
You will be required -
1.To undertake initial assessments of residents on admission and treat accordingly following departmental protocols.
2.To respond to referrals within a given time following priority scale.
3.To provide a wide variety of physiotherapy treatment options and interventions to residents including falls prevention, electrotherapy, manual therapy, pain management and individual and group exercises to maintain function and rehabilitate where applicable. These are to take place in the therapy departments, on the units and in the lounges as applicable.
4.To maintain/improve the balance, transferring ability and mobility of residents, providing walking aids where necessary.
5.To support the assessment of and provision of appropriate footwear carried out by the physiotherapy assistant.
6.To adhere to and carry out departmental risk assessments.
7.To maintain records in line with the CSP Standards of physiotherapy practice and company policies.
8.To follow CSP code of ethics.
9.To document and keep updated, physiotherapy information, advice and plans in the unit care plans.
10.To liaise effectively with appropriate members of staff regarding the progress of service users to optimise the outcome for each individual. This may also include talking to families and written reports to external therapist, social workers etc.
11.To attend multi-disciplinary meetings.
12.To carry out audits/checks on equipment.
13.To take part in moving & handling demonstrations to staff and volunteers as well as practicing current methods and keeping updated personally.
14.To take an active role in the therapy team/department, (occupational therapy, physiotherapy and moving & handling advisor). This includes team meetings, joined up working, contributions towards a safe, clean, effective working environment.
15.To take part in the supervision of the physiotherapy assistant and support supervision of students and volunteers when applicable.
16.To work at all times following a person centered care model.
17.To contribute to the in-service training programme for the therapy team and other staff members.
18.To identify self-training needs related to a personal development plan.
19.To continue professional development according to CSP guidelines and maintain a CPD portfolio.
20.To attend mandatory training required .
21.To maintain a high personal standard of professional practice and behaviour, and to encourage others within the team to do likewise.
22.Such other duties, within the competence of the post holder, as may be required from time to time.
