Physiotherapist to start work at Tranmere Rovers
Friday 2nd July 2010
A physiotherapist has been offered a position at Tranmere Rovers.
According to the Wirral Times, new manager of the club Les Parry has appointed Steve Walker to the role.
The medical professional, who has been in the industry for 14 years, said he and Parry work on similar lines.
He added: "I think you have to introduce a fun element into any kind of rehabilitation or therapy with players."
This gets the best out of them, Mr Walker claimed.
He used to play amateur football but had to stop due to a knee injury and took up the study of physiotherapy.
Before joining Tranmere Rovers, which has roots tracing back to 1884, Mr Walker worked in non-league football before progressing to the professional ranks by joining Crewe.
He noted that being employed in football is all he ever wanted to do, adding that working as a physiotherapist is not easy and knowledge constantly has to be topped up.
