Physiotherapist speaks at medical event
Thursday 13th May 2010
During a recent gathering of medics who work with the stars of stage and screen, a physiotherapist was invited to speak.
Kirsten Lord runs three manual therapy physio clinics in Scotland and has treated Oscar winners and Olympic athletes.
She addressed the British Association of Performing Arts in Medicine (BAPAM) recently when it held an event entitled The Show Must Go On in Edinburgh.
Prior to the occasion, she said: "I was very flattered to be invited as a speaker. Our team has spent many years earning experience treating a wide range of performers."
They include gymnasts, acrobats, musicians, circus performers and dancers, as well as actors, she noted.
Speaking about the event, she added that it is a chance for medics and therapists to share their knowledge and best practice.
The BAPAM is a charity that delivers health support to performing artists and it runs assessment clinics staffed by volunteers.
