Accident victim expresses desire to become physiotherapist
Tuesday 19th January 2010
A man who suffered serious injuries in a car accident in September 2008 has revealed he wants to become a physiotherapist.
Aaron Timms was told he would probably never walk again due to the damage he sustained, but the 22-year-old surprised doctors by regaining his mobility.
He now wants to help others in similar situations to his own by entering the medical profession.
"The surgeons told my father point blank that I wouldn't walk. I had a serious break and serious damage to my spinal cord."
However, he used the power of his mind and through "determination, belief and hope", he was able to walk once more.
His mother, Jane Timms, is now the Essex fundraiser and organiser for the Spinal Research charity at Stoke Mandeville hospital.
Launched in 1980, the organisation raises money to further medical research around the world to develop treatments for people who are suffering from paralysis.
