Physiotherapist 'helps David Haye avoid bruises'
Wednesday 11th November 2009
Those working in a physiotherapy job can seemingly work wonders thanks to advancements in technology.
Days after becoming the WBA heavyweight champion by defeating Nikolai Valuev, Londoner David Haye shows few signs of the grueling clash.
Haye credited his swift recovery to using Hilotherapy. The technology works by circulating cool water through adjustable cuffs that are fitted on the areas of the body that have been subjected to trauma.
Temperature can be controlled to between ten and 30 degrees C to help reduce swelling, bruising and pain.
Physiotherapist Kevin Lidlow used the technology to prepare Haye for his encounter with the Beast from the East.
The boxer said he was "thoroughly impressed" with Hilotherapy as it helps him to recuperate "much faster".
Bayern Munich is just one of the football teams in the Bundesliga which also uses the technology to support the work done by those working in physiotherapy jobs at the clubs.
