Community hospital officially opened
Thursday 24th September 2009
A community hospital that offers podiatry among its services has been officially opened in Brentwood.
Tom Quennell, the brother of Mary Rose - who presented a bouquet to the Princess Royal when the facility's predecessor was opened on the same site 75 years ago - was present for the event, the Yellow Advertiser reports.
More than 70 people watched as Brentwood Community Hospital hosted the ceremony.
As well as podiatry, the facility provides radiography, physiotherapy and audiology services, among other things.
Construction of the building took two years and it was designed as a sustainable building which can be easily serviced and has a high degree of flexibility.
The public will be able to attend an open day next month during which they will be able to tour the facility, as well as attend fall prevention classes and a blood pressure checks.
Situated in Essex, Brentwood Community Hospital is run by NHS South West Essex, which provides healthcare services for around 420,000 people.
