Physiotherapist establishes charity
Monday 10th August 2009
A physiotherapist has established a charity for disabled children, it has emerged.
Rebecca Boldock from Greenwich spent time with her parents living in Uganda during her summer holidays while at university and got involved with two groups set up by parents of disabled children.
The Rwenzori Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities and the Save the Disabled Child Home help to change attitudes and enhance the quality of life of youngsters suffering from a variety of conditions, NewsShopper reports.
Wanting to do more, Ms Boldock set up the Accomplish Trust, which helps to raise funds for the organisations.
Money accumulated by the charity will fund operations and healthcare, as well as specialist items such as seats for children with cerebral palsy.
"Sitting up daily will encourage them to develop strength and co-ordination, giving them a greater chance of being able to sit independently one day," she commented.
According to the trust's website, the aims of the organisation are the advancement of education and health, as well as the development of Christianity for the benefit of children and young people with disabilities and their families.
