Consultant physiotherapist awarded MBE
Wednesday 22nd July 2009
A consultant physiotherapist has been recognised by the Queen.
Alan Smith, whose career has seen him provide treatment for players in a range of football teams - including the England squad - has been awarded an MBE.
The medical professional has also worked with Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham football clubs.
Mr Smith, who runs his own practice in Yorkshire, has been invited to pick up the award from Buckingham Palace.
Commenting on Sheffield Wednesday's official website, the physiotherapist stated: "To be recognised by the Queen is not something that happens every day and I intend to enjoy every minute of the time we are at the palace."
He added that it is a "personal honour" for him.
Recently, a number of physiotherapists began working at a new medical centre located in Nairn, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported.
The facility has a range of features, including physiotherapy gyms and a physiotherapy department.
