Physiotherapist gets chance to globe trot

A physiotherapist is to get the chance to travel with an athletics team.

Alison Bloxham, who works at Kendal Physiotherapy Centre, is heading to Australia next month to accompany the UK's team in the World Transplant Games, the Westmorland Gazette reports.

The 48-year-old will be on hand to administer medical care to the athletes in the build-up to and during the games, which begin on August 22nd and run until the end of the month.

Organised by the World Transplant Games Federation, the event is biannual and aims to demonstrate the benefits of successful organ transplantation.

Ms Bloxham, who will be joined by another physiotherapist at the games, said: "Looking after so many athletes at what is their ultimate sporting event makes for a hectic schedule, both at team meetings prior to the games and at the games themselves."

However, seeing the achievements of the participants makes it all worthwhile, she added.
