Friday 26th June 2009
A new medical centre which will offer patients a range of services, including physiotherapy, is to be created next to Halstead Hospital.
Work on the site, which will also offer podiatry and speech therapy services, is to begin next month, the Halstead Gazette reports.
Set to be built on the hospital's car park, the facility is scheduled to open its doors to patients next year.
The money has partly been raised by Halstead Hospital League of Friends.
Spokesperson for the organisation Steve Pearson said: "Recent years have seen a tremendous effort by the people of the Colne Valley and surrounding areas to assist in raising funds for a number of facilities to benefit Halstead Hospital its patients and staff."
Halstead Hospital is run by Colchester Hospital University NHS trust, which is also responsible for Colchester General Hospital and Essex County Hospital, as well as At Harwich and Clacton community hospitals.
