Monday 18th May 2009
A physiotherapy service in England has been commended and put forward for an award.
The Development Co-ordination Disorder Team from South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) Provider Services has been shortlisted for a West Midlands Health and Social Care Award, 24dash reports.
In their eighth year, the accolades are designed to celebrate excellence and innovation.
The South Staffordshire team has been singled out for its Jungle Journey programme, which involves motor screening for all children of reception class age.
Paediatric physiotherapist Sara Orr of South Staffordshire PCT designed the programme along with Sara Christie - also a physiotherapist - and occupational therapist Helen Burrows.
Commenting on their achievement, PCT provider services managing director Anne Heckels said: "I am delighted that the hard work of the Development Co-ordination Disorder Team has been recognised by receiving a nomination in the regional finals of the Health and Social Care Awards."
South Staffordshire PCT serves a population of around 604,000 and employs just over 2,000 workers.
