Physiotherapists dispense free advice
Tuesday 28th April 2009
Two specialist physiotherapists recently offered local people in Eastbourne advice concerning musculoskeletal disorders.
Last weekend, the medical professionals positioned themselves on the main pedestrian walkway of Terminus Road in the town and spent six hours providing passers-by with information.
As well as the two experts, six University of Brighton physiotherapy students were present at the event.
Commenting on the initiative, the university said it was a "fantastic opportunity for people to explore their aches and pains with a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist at no cost".
The event ran from 10:00 GMT until 16:00 GMT and was predominantly aimed at shoppers.
Earlier this month, the expressandstar.com reported that a team of physiotherapists based at Birmingham's City Hospital were using the Nintendo Wii to help stroke patients improve their mobility.
Physiotherapist Lydia Jones commented: "The patients have all been loving it. It has really helped people learn to balance and because they can see their scores, they watch them get better after every session."
