Physiotherapy and podiatry services to benefit from development
Monday 2nd February 2009
The replacement of a health centre with a new building is to provide a boost to a range of services, including physiotherapy and podiatry, it has been revealed.
A £12 million development budget is facilitating the replacement of the old Yate Health Centre with a modern facility, the Gloucestershire Gazette reports.
The new centre will boast 2,860 square metres of floor space and will house a range of consulting, treating and diagnosis rooms.
It will also have a pharmacy and an X-ray facility.
Commenting on the development, Ian Longden, project manager for NHS South Gloucestershire, said: "There will be access to services on two floors and staff offices will be on the top floor.
"This will mean consulting rooms, which are quite expensive to build, will be freed up for other staff to see patients in rather than using them as offices as well."
NHS South Gloucestershire serves a population of around 246,000 and had a budget of £301.2 million in 2007-08.
