More pharmacy jobs 'may be created in Chorley'

Due to the opening of a new pharmacy in Chorley, new medical jobs may be created in the area, it has been suggested.

The MedicX Pharmacy, which is due to be officially opened this week, is pledging to open until the late evening every day of the year, the Chorley Citizen reports.

According to the publication, the centre will initially employ 12 people, although more jobs may be created in future.

The pharmacy will offer a number of additional services, including blood pressure tests, acupuncture, aromatherapy and physiotherapy and podiatry.

Anthony Lynn, pharmacist manager for the Chorley branch, commented: "My team and I look forward to working with all local healthcare practitioners to provide the best possible pharmacy service to the citizens of Chorley."

Recently, a number of pharmacies in the UK were put up for sale after the suicide of their German billionaire owner Adolf Merckle.

His Rowlands chain, which includes 500 pharmacies in the UK, was made available to buyers.
