Lord Darzi opens new health centre
Friday 23rd January 2009
During a recent ceremony, health minister Lord Darzi opened a new health centre in Bedfordshire, people seeking UK medical jobs may be interested to hear.
The facility, which is described as the county's first GP health centre, is open to patients seven days a week between 08:00 GMT and 20:00 GMT.
Putnoe Medical Centre is part of the government's programme to increase access to family doctor services.
Lord Darzi said: "We know that patients want to be able to see a GP at times convenient to them, so new health centres like this one will complement existing practices and help to improve the health of local communities and offer them the greater choice and flexibility they want."
Recently, Hospital Development reported that plans for a new medical facility in East Lothian featuring a range of services, including podiatry, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, have been given the green light by the local authority.
