Physiotherapy waiting times 'long in Norfolk'
Wednesday 17th December 2008
Patients in Norfolk who require treatment by a physiotherapist are experiencing long waits, it has been suggested.
According to reports in the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press, NHS Norfolk has stated that some people are experiencing "very long delays".
Anna Bennett, director of performance, planning and procurement at the organisation, said: "A review is currently underway into physiotherapy services in GP surgeries and health centres.
"We are aware that in some areas patients in Norfolk are waiting longer than the average waiting time of six weeks."
Ms Bennett added that the organisation, which was established on October 1st and covers most of Norfolk, has an "aspirational target" of five weeks for waiting times.
In order to help achieve this, Norfolk Community Health Care - the part of NHS Norfolk which is responsible for physiotherapy in GP surgeries and health centres - has been asked to conduct a review into the figures.
