Thursday 27th November 2008
A female paediatric physiotherapist was recently involved in an initiative to benefit children with disabilities and terminal illnesses.
Linda Berwick was among a group of volunteers who took youngsters on a holiday to Disney World in Florida, Get Surrey reports.
The medical professional works for the Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Ashford hospital in Middlesex and St Peter's in Surrey.
A total of 192 children made the trip, accompanied by 140 adults.
They were split into 12 groups and each group included a specialist paediatric physiotherapist, as well as a number of other medical professionals.
The tradition was started in 1986 when a group of British Airways staff got together to take sick youngsters on a five-day holiday.
Commenting on the trip, Ms Berwick said: "I actually feel quite humbled by some of these children who have these problems. They are game for giving everything a go and it actually puts everything into perspective."
