Medical centre improvements announced
Thursday 27th November 2008
A medical centre may be set to move to new modern premises in a bid to improve it and to enable it to serve more patients, it has been revealed.
In a development which could lead to the creation of additional medical jobs, Lister House - which is situated in the Essex town of Harlow on the border with Hertfordshire - could be transferring to a different site.
Planning permission was recently granted in principle during a meeting of the town council's planning committee, the Harlow Herald 24 reports.
The plans will now be submitted to the secretary of state for final approval.
"We've been discussing the redevelopment for ten years looking at all sorts of different options not just looking to expand GP services but an integrated network of services all under one roof," stated Carol Sizeland of Harlow Health Centres Trust.
In other news which could have a positive effect on UK medical jobs, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph recently reported that a total of 200 new positions for a range of medical professionals - including occupational therapists and physiotherapists - will be created when a facility run by PJ Care opens in Daventry next year.
