Speech and language therapy, audiology, physiotherapy, dietetics and podiatry services will all be offered by a redeveloped hospital in Wirral, Merseyside.
Plans to invest £32 million in renovating Birkenhead's St Catherine's were approved by the local health authority earlier this week, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
Kathy Doran, Wirral Primary Care Trust's chief executive, said that detailed plans of the redevelopment still need to be drawn up for approval by the Strategic Health Authority.
However, she is hopeful that building work will be able to begin in summer next year.
"This is really exciting news for the people of Tranmere and Wirral," Ms Doran commented.
"We are delighted to have moved a step closer to securing state-of-the-art health services."
St Catherine's is one of four hospitals in Wirral and is governed by the Wirral Hospital NHS Turst.
The facility and Victoria Central Hospital both provide x-ray services, while Clatterbridge focuses on elective surgery and Arrowe Park provides acute services for children and adults.
