Physiotherapy body speaks out against workplace injuries
Tuesday 16th September 2008
A physiotherapy body has condemned the UK's record on the health and safety of workers.
Figures released by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) reveal that over the course of 2006-07, 12 people were killed and 884 suffered major injury in Kent alone.
Meanwhile, there were said to have been eight deaths and 808 injuries in Lancashire over the 12-month period, people with physiotherapy jobs may be interested to hear.
Commenting on the statistics, Lesley Mercer from the CSP said: "Despite legislation putting the responsibility for staff safety in the hands of employers, there is still an unreasonably high rate of workers being seriously and even fatally injured while doing their jobs."
In other news, it was reported last month by the Essex Echo that a team of physiotherapists from Southend Hospital have begun visiting the Little Lions Children's Centre every week to administer treatment to youngsters as part of a new initiative.
