Child-friendly physiotherapy initiative launched
Wednesday 27th August 2008
In a bid to make the services it provides less daunting for children, a hospital has begun working in collaboration with a children's centre.
As part of the initiative, a team of physiotherapists from Southend Hospital visit the Little Lions Children's Centre in Northwick Park School every week, the Essex Echo reports.
The experts then administer treatment to youngsters in an environment designed to be more relaxing, people with physiotherapy jobs may be interested to discover.
Commenting on the scheme, Paula Burns, the children's centre manager, said: "It's a nicer venue for the children. The Thompson centre is a very medical place and this is a much friendlier place for children and we have lots of room for them to do their exercises."
In related news, Felixstowe Community Hospital was recently commended for the quality of its children's centre - which was designed to make young patients feel more at ease - the Ipswich Evening Star reported.
