Occupational therapists to benefit from new development

Occupational therapists are set to be among a number of people with UK medical jobs to benefit from the redevelopment of a community hospital.

Under plans currently being considered, Clitheroe Community Hospital may move from its present 19th century facility into a three-storey modern building, Clitheroe Today reports.

In addition to the hospital's current services, which include occupational therapy, out-patient clinics and diagnostics, the new centre may also incorporate mobile medical units and health education facilities.

According to Chris Dixon, director of finance for East Lancashire Teaching Primary Care Trust, the new services will cater for the demographic of the local population.

Meanwhile, another planned medical centre is currently the subject of media attention.

The facility, which is due to be constructed in Telford, will cost £2.25 million and will see an increased need for a range of medical staff - including speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists - the Shropshire Star reported.
